ONE vessel runs aground in Suez Canal

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has confirmed the successful refloating of its flagship vessel, ONE Orpheus, after it ran aground in the Suez Canal.

The incident occurred on 6 December around 12.30 pm Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The vessel started to move and was successfully refloated with the assistance of tugs a few hours later.

The vessel dropped anchor at Port Said around 12.01 am (UTC) on 7 December for a detailed Underwater Inspection for assessment of the vessel’s condition, which is planned for 8 December.

Reports about ships getting trapped in the Suez Canal aren’t uncommon. The most notable incident occurred in March 2021, involving Evergreen’s Ever Given.

Maersk recently reached an agreement related to the six-day blockage caused by this incident.
