Vintage cruise ship Balmoral set sail from Liverpool this morning for a voyage to North Wales.

The UK’s biggest motor excursion ship, her future was in doubt until she was returned to passenger service earlier this year, after an overhaul by her new owner, White Funnel Line.

Passengers today can either go ashore for an afternoon in Llandudno or enjoy a cruise through the Menai Straits and under the Menai Bridge.

The latest Mersey visit follows a successful short early summer season, when Balmoral sailed from Liverpool to reopen Llandudno’s famous Victorian Pier and also viewed Cunard Line’s flagship Queen Mary 2 in Liverpool for the 175th anniversary voyage to the US.
