Celestyal announces support of two local charity events

As part of Celestyal’s ongoing commitment to the local communities of the ports and destinations in which they homeport and visit, the cruise line has announced its support of two charitable events this year: the 2024 Celestyal Blood Bank, and the 16th Greece Race for the Cure®.

The 2024 Celestyal blood donation campaign, in partnership with the Metaxa Hospital of Piraeus, is part of a wider programme with this year’s blood drive being held onboard Celestyal Journey on September 21, 2024.
The programme, established in 2016, is supported by its head office employees and onboard crew members twice a year to aid medical emergencies and urgent blood needs in the local healthcare. The company also welcomes volunteers from outside the business, including local residents and sailing guests to participate in the blood donation scheme by visiting one of the public hospitals and donating in the account of Celestyal Blood Bank. To date Celestyal has successfully donated a total of 190 units of blood, with 50 units used for medical emergencies involving colleagues, their families, and local healthcare needs in Greece.

In addition to the blood donation efforts, Celestyal is proudly participating in the 16th Greece Race for the Cure®, taking place September 28 to 29, at the Zappeion in central Athens. This annual event, dedicated to the fight against breast cancer, promotes prevention, celebrates life and raises funds to support programmes that aid women battling cancer.
Celestyal is delighted to award the first-place finisher a gift voucher for an unforgettable 4-night cruise for two on the Celestyal Discovery, following the ‘Iconic Aegean Summer’ itinerary. The head office team are joining the race alongside their international colleagues participating in parallel races across the globe to raise funds for this charity.

Chris Theophilides, Chief Executive Officer at Celestyal said: “At Celestyal, we take immense pride in supporting the communities we serve, both locally and globally. Our ongoing blood donation campaign is not only a testament to our commitment to providing critical medical aid but also an opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives.
“We are also thrilled to be participating in this year’s Greece Race for the Cure®, a cause close to our hearts. By coming together as a team, across multiple countries, we aim to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer. It’s a privilege to be part of such meaningful initiatives, and we encourage everyone to join us in supporting these vital causes.”
