Piraeus Port as the centre of the Mediterranean Cruise Experience promoted at PSTF 2017

As a silver sponsor of this year’s Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum, the Piraeus Port Authority PPA will be promoting its Cruise Terminals as the Centre of the Mediterranean Cruise Experience.
The port facilities are suitable to serve every ship size, the modern equipped Passenger Terminals and the high quality provided services, make Piraeus one of the most attractive cruise ports in the Mediterranean.
The improvements in the current infrastructure, including the new Saint Nikolaos Cruise Pier, will allow PPA to increase its annual cruise passenger capacity and to accommodate more new generation cruise vessels, offering great travel experience. The further upgrade of the infrastructure and the services planned by PPA are designed to establish Piraeus as one of the top cruise European destinations.

Remote-controlled and crewless: is this the cargo ship of the future?

The future of cargo transportation will be autonomous, according to Rolls-Royce, which has revealed plans for a remote-controlled, unmanned ship that could take to the seas as early as 2020.

Norwegian Cruise Line announces more Cuba voyages

Norwegian Cruise Line will offer weekly cruises to Cuba through at least December.

The Miami-based cruise operator on Tuesday announced it had been approved for 25 more sailings to the island nation to take place between early June and the end of the year.

The line previously had been approved for just five sailings to Cuba in May.

As with the previously announced voyages, all of the newly announced trips will be on the 2,004-passenger Norwegian Sky, which will sail to Cuba from Miami. Sky will be the biggest vessel traveling [ ... ]

Carnival Corporation and Fincantieri ink deal for two cruise ships

Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has signed a memorandum of agreement to build two new cruise ships for Carnival Corporation.

Expected to be finalised in early 2017, the contract covers a third 99,500gt, 2,660-guest Pinnacle-class vessel for Holland America Line, which will be built at Fincantieri’s Marghera yard in Italy. The ship will be delivered in 2021, when she will debut interiors similar to those on the recently launched Koningsdam and the yet-to-be-delivered Nieuw Statendam.

Ranking the shareholdings of Greek shipping families

Since the early 2000s, Greek shipowners have been a major presence in the US public markets.
